Carla is a Civil Senior Peace Advisor with experience in impact-oriented planning, systematic conflict analysis and monitoring, case management and coordination as well as knowledge management on projects worldwide which she intends to use in areas of non-violent conflict management at the organization. She is a qualified mediator and arbitrator and holds a Teaching Diploma form Middlesex University. Carla has worked in different countries such as India (New Delhi), Lebanon (Beirut), and UK (London) on a voluntary and professional basis.

She is German national with a legal background and has obtained vast experience in areas of Investigation and Dispute Resolution, Legal aid and support in Contract Assessment & Management, Claims management: Strategy and construction of claims as well as Women’s rights & children’s right to education. Ms. Carla holds a Masters of Laws in International and in Commercial Dispute Resolution Law (LLM) from the University of Westminster (UK), focusing on negotiation, arbitration, mediation and peaceful dispute settlement, and Bachelor of Laws in European Law School (LLB) from the University of Maastricht, Faculty of Law.

Michael Ojok

Micheal Ojok is a God fearing Rotaractor who is a journalist by profession. He went to Holy Rosary Primary School in Gulu for his primary education, St Joseph’s College Layibi and Kakungulu High School for O’level and later joined Gulu Central High School for his Advanced level education. He also holds several certificates in multi-media/film production trainings and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Kampala University.

He worked as a Production Manager at Blaze media limited and a media volunteer at Watoto Church and National Debate Council. He has a passion for debate, helping young people, politics and can do all he can to help provided he is given guidance.

Michael brings a wealth of experience in leadership, community service, new media and photography to a committed and results-driven team. His passion to work with young people emanates from the fact that he was a Guild President at University. This made him appreciate the value of servant leadership, and people oriented service. He likes travelling, swimming, making friends, social media, photography and watching movies.

Daniel J. Ntende

Daniel is a lawyer and holds a Bachelor’s in Law from Bangalore University. He has experience working in the agricultural, legal, and development field, as well as with faith-based organisations. He has led projects to support women, children, prison inmates, ex-inmates, farmers, and the youth. He has worked in various fields including a law firm (Biroli & Co. Advocates) and is currently working with Advance Afrika as a Project Coordinator for the “Improving the Economic Resilience of West Nile Youth in the Face of COVID-19”. He is passionate about policy, governance, and leadership development.

Ocaya Stephen Michael

Stephen, is a pioneer staff since the organization’s inception in 2014. He currently holds the Project Coordinator position. Stephen holds a BSc degree in Economics, Post Graduate degree in Project Planning & Management. He is currently, a MBA final year Student Researcher at the Faculty of Business and Development Studies at Gulu University, a Public Chartered Institution accredited by the National Council of Higher Education in Uganda Previously, Stephen held positions at Gulu District Local Government as an Intern, Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED)-Research Assistant, as well as Data Entrant under the Expanding Social Protection (ESP) Program with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.

Stephen has skills in strategic organization’s design and diagnostics, planning, administration, leadership and governance issues. He has spent over 6 years at the organisation championing the collaboration with Uganda Prison Services (UPS) under the Rehabilitation, Reformation, & Reintegration of Youth (Ex) Inmates thematic area. A contribution which has significantly shaped the lives of many vulnerable and marginalized youth ex inmates in northern Uganda.

Stephen pioneered many projects for the organisation including; The Youth Entrepreneurship Enhancement Project (2014). The Norec program (formerly FK Exchange Program-2017) were he represented the organisation in Malawi at Centre for Legal Assistance (CELA; he also piloted the social enterprise model concept of Advance Afrika under the Moringa project in northern Uganda (currently Roots of the Nile (RoN)). As a Project Officer, he supported the opening of the land, organizing and mobilizing the local communities, and linking with strategic stakeholders to support the establishment of the enterprise in Awach sub county, Gulu district for 3 years. In 2020, he was recruited as a Support Business Manager under Roots of the Nile (RoN). He was also actively involved in strengthening the capacities and mentoring of youth led organization’s in northern Uganda under the International Labour organisation (ILO), Youth Entrepreneurship Facility Program.

Stephen is passionate about inspiring and mentoring young people. He derives his motivation through building strategic and valuable relationships that is inexhaustible with different actors in the development work. Mark Turyasiima

Mark Turyasiima is an Accountant who joined Advance Afrika in March 2018, he has extensive experience in Finance and management Accounting, Audit and Business Administration. While working with Body of Christ international ministries, Youth Social Work Association and Peace and transformation initiative, Mark managed finances and accounting ensuring that there is smooth running of the organization, he has developed expertise in managing donor funded projects including Friends of Canada, Friends of UK, Unicef, Democratic Governance Facility (DGF). He has a proven track record in executing various assignments characterized by conformity and adherence to plans, policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and limited time frame.

Kwehangana Boris

Boris is an accountant who joined Advance Afrika in 2020, he has experience in Business management, managing books of accounts and financial management. Prior to that he worked with Kawa Construction company, Judos Lounge, Greening International where he was charged with the responsibility of monitoring accounts, account analysis and reporting, activity planning and budgeting to support administrative functionality.

Alleluia Nowamaani

Alleluia Nowamaani is a graduate of Business Administration and Finance from Makerere Business School. She completed her Ordinary and Advance levels of education from Immaculate Heart Girls Nyakibale in Rukungiri and Naalya S.S Namugongo respectively. While at School, she engaged in student leadership up-to University which enabled her to become open-minded, friendly and resourceful with a sound and optimistic outlook on all things in life. She is a self-motivated person, with the ability to communicate comfortably at all levels, which creates an excellent working environment for all members of the team. Alleluia previously worked as a finance intern with Civil Society Advocacy Group (CSBAG), a researcher at Centre for Social Research and finance assistant at Track 24. All these made her learn various financial systems which has built her expertise in finance and the ability to relate with different kinds of people in different situations.

Alobo Sharon

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University and a certificate in Basic First Aid theory and Practical, as well as Certificate in Basic Guidance and Counseling from Makerere University Guidance and Counseling Center. She has experience as a psycho-social counselor who worked with AIC-Uganda, which later inspired her research on “Knowledge and Attitudes of Youth towards HCT services in Lira district”. With this background, she worked as a Research Assistant at Newplan Limited and COWI Uganda Limited respectively. In her work with Advance Afrika, Sharon acquired hands-on experience in project planning, implementation and management through her execution of Advancing Youth Entrepreneurship Project and other interventions. She is a committed and passionate person about her work in prisons with Advance Afrika

Rose Juliana Ayika

Juliana holds a Bachelors Degree and Diploma in Business Administration from Uganda Christian University and completed her Ordinary and Advanced levels at Makerere College School. She is passionate about interacting and working with people of diversity. Joined Advance Afrika in 2020, and prior to that she worked at Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development (Treasury department) as an intern. She is committed to work, trustworthy, hardworking and a team player. She loves travelling and swimming.

Maureen Amito

As an agriculture officer by profession; she holds a certificate and diploma in Crop production and management from Bukalasa Agricultural College. She completed her secondary school education from Mvara Secondary School. Her proactive character and experience in working in rural communities has made her work as an Agriculture Extension officer currently easy to implement. In her free time she likes to listen to music and watch educative movies.
