Over 600 Prison inmates in Acholi and Lango sub-regions are set to benefit from entrepreneurship and life skills. The ten days training which kicked off on Monday 19th is organized and conducted within the prison premises by the prison social workers and it is under the Economic Empowerment and Social Reintegration of Youth Ex-prison Inmates in northern Uganda Project which is being implemented by Advance Afrika in partnership with Uganda Prisons Service, with support from European Union and Caritas Switzerland.
The major objective of this training is to enhance access of youth ex-prison inmates to economic opportunities through development of business plans, establishing individual businesses and integration into the labour market.
The trainees will also be given an opportunity to develop their own business plans where outstanding plans will get mentorship and start up support. All this is to enable the prison inmates to demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired practically as well as improve their psychological capital and earn a decent living on their own.
